How does life change after receiving a prestigious award? Must it fundamentally change at all? For 2022 Fields Medal winner Hugo Duminil-Copin, equilibrium is as central to life as anything else, even — or especially — when working to advance the frontier of his field. 

‘My wife and daughter… showed me how to sometimes step back and enjoy these other things that are outside of math,’ he says. ‘I had less time, but it was better time.’
