2022 International Mathematical Union Awards: Nikolai Andreev
”If we notice the math that surrounds us, our life will be much more interesting.”

Nikolai Andreev is among his country’s most dedicated evangelists of advanced mathematics. From creating spellbinding models and illustrated films to lecturing young students throughout Russia, Andreev seeks to demystify math by showing people ‘where it manifests in their lives.’

‘Examples abound,’ he says, ‘but we often just pass them by.’
