B.B. King Museum

The epic, intrinsically American life story of Riley B. (“B.B.”) King serves as the narrative spine for a dynamic, accessible tour de force through the history of 20th century music and the American South in Mr. King’s hardscrabble hometown of Indianola, Miss.

OBM worked with interactive and museum designers to create a vernacular master narrative grounded in Mr. King’s warmth and candor, tracing his stunning, singular rise from oppressive Delta racism to international stardom. Heavily augmented by plainspoken perspectives of everyone from sharecroppers to bandmates to civil rights leaders, the museum’s exhibits, documentaries and interactive exhibits go far beyond Mr. King’s undisputed creative influence to tell a broader story of American race relations and the role of music in transcending racial and social barriers.
